Breathing apparatus, EEBDs and air quality
SCBA and EEBD servicing on a calibrated test bench, cylinder hydrostatic testing and breathing-air quality tests on compressors.

Why it matters
Breathing apparatus and EEBDs are what the crew reaches for when a space fills with smoke or gas. They have to work in the first second, with full cylinders and masks that seal.
Cylinders also have a legal life of their own: test dates, inspection marks and, for composite cylinders, a maximum service life. We track all of it per serial number.
What we do
Scope of work
- 01
Self-contained breathing apparatus
Inspection and functional test on a calibrated test bench: high and low pressure, leak tightness, warning whistle, demand valve and mask seal.
- 02
Emergency escape breathing devices
Pressure, seals, hood and expiry checked; units replaced or sent for maker service when due.
- 03
Cylinder testing
Hydrostatic testing of steel and composite cylinders, re-marking, and condemning of cylinders that fail or reach the end of their life.
- 04
Breathing-air quality
Air from the ship's compressor tested for oxygen, CO, CO₂, oil and water against EN 12021, with a report.
- 05
Refilling
Cylinders filled to their rated pressure with clean, dry air.
- 06
Chemical protective suits
Gas-tight suits on tankers and gas carriers pressure-tested to the maker's procedure.
Intervals
When it is due
Typical intervals under the IMO instruments listed. Your flag, class or the maker's manual can ask for more; we check before we quote.
| Item | Interval | Basis |
|---|---|---|
| SCBA and EEBD inspection | 12 months | MSC.1/Circ.1432 |
| Breathing-air quality test | 12 months | MSC.1/Circ.1432, EN 12021 |
| Cylinder hydrostatic test | 5 years, or as the flag and maker require | Cylinder standard, flag |
What you get
- Certificate per set with cylinder serials and test dates
- Air quality report for each compressor
- Service report signed on board by the Master or Chief Officer
- Photos and plain notes on every unit that failed, with a quote for the fix
- Next due dates in your customer portal
Rules we work to
- SOLAS II-2/10.10
- FSS Code ch. 3
- MSC.1/Circ.1432
- EN 137
- EN 12021
- ISO 23269-1
References are summaries for planning. The current text of each instrument, your flag's interpretation and the maker's instructions always apply.

A vessel name, an IMO number and an ETA are enough to get a quote moving. Attach last year's certificates if you have them.
